What is Road Force balancing?

Standard wheel balancing only measures static and dynamic weight imbalance. It doesn't detect imperfections in the tire's roundness or stiffness — and those are the most common causes of vibrations that won't go away after a regular balance.

Hunter Road Force Elite balancers apply a load roller (~600 kg of force) to the tire as it spins, simulating the load of an actual road. This measures force variation — tiny inconsistencies in how the tire flexes under load — and tells us exactly how to position the tire on the wheel to minimize vibration.

When you need Road Force balancing

  • Steering wheel vibration at highway speeds (90 to 110 km/h) that doesn't go away after standard balancing
  • Just installed expensive tires and want them perfectly smooth
  • Premium, performance, or luxury vehicle where ride quality matters
  • Used or older tires you suspect have minor defects
  • Vibration returned soon after a regular balance

Cost of Road Force balancing in Orleans

At Tire Plus, Road Force balancing starts at $39 per tire. Most customers do all four for the best result. The price is well worth it on a vehicle with persistent vibration — many drivers come to us after another shop couldn't fix it.

How long does it take?

Road Force balancing all four tires takes about 60 to 90 minutes — slightly longer than a standard balance because of the additional measurement and possible tire repositioning on the wheel.
